Caffeine Tights, Eyelash Growth, Dark Underarms, And More
Submitted by Beauty Brains Blog
We get hundreds of questions from the Beauty Brains community each month. Many times, our readers ask questions that we’ve answered in earlier posts form months or even years ago. (Yes, we’re now starting our 3rd year, can you believe it?)
Since we understand that everyone doesn’t always search our archives to see if their question has been asked before, we’ve decided to repost our answers to some commonly asked questions. This Blast From the Past should be helpful to our newer readers and it’s a heck of a lot less work than researching new questions. (Ooops, did I say that out loud?)
1. Vanessa’s wondering about dark underarms
What will get rid of dark underarms? I have tried everything.
Have you tried reading our previous post on the causes of dark underarms? How you get rid of them depends on what’s causing ‘em.
2. Cassie’s curious about caffeine
Do you think these Caffeine tights would really work? Some analysis please!
Tights impregnated with caffeine? We’ve previously blogged about how much caffeine would have to be in a bar of soap before it would work. Tights make a little more sense because they’re in contact with your skin for a longer period of time, but this still smells like BS to us.
3. Dee’s determined to grow longer eyelashes
Are there any other products similar to Jan Marini’s age intervention eyelash growth product? Hers was recalled for some reason and is no longer available.
“Recalled for some reason??” Dee, what rock have YOU been sleeping under! Seriously, to read the entire, sordid story start with this post about Jan Marini and eyelash growth.
4. Ada’s concerned about cleansing
I’ve seen quite a few articles in the media lately talking about the virtues of removing shampoo from your routine due to it’s drying and damaging effects to the scalp and hair. Some have urged giving up shampoo and conditioner completely and others recommend shampooing with conditioner - although it may take up to 8 weeks for your scalp/hair to adjust (!). What do you think? And how about if you are a user of hair styling products or have coloured hair - will rinsing or conditioning alone just allow the product to buildup?
You might find this post about how to clean your hair with conditioner helpful.
5. Hope’s thirsty for a moisturizer that really works
Do the more expensive moisturizers really perform significantly better than the less expensive ones? Should I spend more for organic?
Here are two posts you should read, Hope. The first one is about what Consumer Reports found out about expensive wrinkle creams. The second is about what organic cosmetics really mean.
Did you enjoy our blast from the past? There’s plenty more where that came from! And if you don’t want to bother searching through our cyber-archives, you can always check out the Beauty Brains book. It has the answers to over 100 commonly asked beauty questions.
